What a wet day

It was absolutely pouring with rain, bouncing off the pavement as I passed the Hilton Hotel in Grosvenor Street, these boots, possibly smelly were sitting upright on a step airing themselves and slowly filling with water. However , on my way back the boots had toppled or been turned over to drain !!!

It was actually dry when I headed into town at 6.30 a.m., and bounced my way in over Edinburgh's back breaking potholed roads.
Our tramworkers started up at 7 a.m., with their visit to Gregg's the Bakers , who will feel the pinch when the work eventually finishes. It was just a thought, but if there was no Greggs we would never know that we were only 100 yards from a main city Police Station , ( the only time we see the Police walking). The workers are now tarring the roads back to the surface, but for some reason there are still small holes all over the place - a few more weeks at least - then we have to contend with the rails going down.

New menu for the Bar seems to be being accepted well, the macaroni is now Penna pasta, the duck is doing OK, and the ploughman's lunches are super. We had some Spanish visitors in who spoke no English, they just pointed at what some of the others were eating and put up four fingers !!

Could be very busy on Wednesday night with the big Oasis Concert on at Murrayfield Stadium.

Did my shift with RGB then had to head off to do one of my own jobs, so that was another three hours on the day, plus time on the computer when I got home.

Watching Ross Kemp on the TV in his search for pirates in Nigeria, the devastation caused by the oil spills is shocking, and the number of kidnappings is terrible - According to the locals , as the pollution spoils the waterways and takes away the fisherman's livelihood, they turn to crime . This country loses £40 billion worth of oil a year apparently.
