Going square eyed

Wednesday morning and it was bright early on , however, the forecast for today is a lot better than yesterday so it should be reasonable.

Biggest excitement yesterday was dashing in and out the house to rescue the holiday washing as we kept getting intermittent showers - and then later on in the afternoon a nice big deluge.

Young RGB obviously has someone looking over his shoulder from above, he had not watered the pot plants and many were looking rather poorly, however with a lot of water and a bit of TLC they seem to be perking up this morning - good job for him !! Obviously thought that the rain would do the business, but pots need so much more.

Mrs. B. went to Costco for me and brought me back enough printer paper and sellotape to last for the next couple of years.

Spent the day on the computer pulling off papers for next weeks Neighbourhood Management Course in London. Years ago when doing a similar project I had to spend weeks in the National Library, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh, going in every day, pulling books off shelves, reading and copying, etc., now it is so simple - just far too much information to work through now.
Timing is perfect - as the BBC have a series on Crime in the UK , and last night Nick Ross was looking at the problems of Anti Social Behaviour, which was 100% relevant to what I am currently doing ( No - not being anti social - that is just me). One of his guests on the programme was a Gloria Laycock from London University- who I used to talk to regularly years ago when I was working on "Schoolwatch", and she would pop various Home Office Research booklets in the post to me - just a coincidence.
There was another programme later on the work being done by Housing Officers and Housing Associations with problem families, interesting and innovative. It has taken a long time for people to realise that a proactive approach to Crime Prevention is far better than trying to deal with the aftermath of crime.

I see that Lothian Buses have announced a deficit in their running costs for the first time, and are blaming the fall in numbers on the tramworks in the town which are causing delays in their timetables, holding people up, are plain unsightly and putting people off coming into the centre of the City. With the free Fringe and Edinburgh International Festival about to get under way it is incredible to think that Princes Street is looking so bad, I bet that when the Queen and the Royal Family are up in Hollyrood and being taken to their various functions that the route planners make sure they avoid all the traffic works!! Must try and find one of my photos from Mumbai, there is a marked similarity.
