Just arrived in San Francisco

Friday 20th
Awake again during the night and up at 6 am. With the bags out at 7 a.m. and on the road again at 8 a.m.
Headed west out of the hills and made for the flatlands, the vast farming areas, where at one stage we could not see either side of the valley as it was so wide, and flat.
At either side we had wheat fields, corn on the cob; vines; olive groves; strawberry beds; cattle ranches, horse, bee hives, and then rice/ paddy fields as this area is a massive producer of rice which is even exported to China.
The town of Stockton ( short for stock town) was a famous cattle city years ago.
We headed north to Sacremento, which is the state capital, and where Governor “Arnie” flies in most days as a commuter. Our stop today was in the old town, where at one stage it was not safe to visit, now a tourist trap (expensive) but nicely restored with the train station, the train museum, old paddle steamer at the quayside. The river is still used as a port and ships sail all the way inland from San Francisco.
Weather is much milder, now a pleasant 70 + F. Ideal to wander about in. However we only had an hour here then it was off to San Francisco.
