With flood warnings all over Scotland, disgraceful rioting continuing in England, what could we do on a day off ?
We headed into Edinburgh by bus to save parking, which is at a premium with as much going on in the town - and took a wander up onto the High Street which was buzzing with the sights and sounds of many of the Festival Fringe acts trying to promote their respective shows. On a sunny day it is brilliant free entertainment, but with the intermittent heavy rain the crowds would gather in the dry spells and run for cover when there was a downpour. The acts did their best, but were having to cover up and keep warm - and also having to cope with the hazards of slippery cobbles. Never mind, I am sure all will enjoy themselves , and as the festival proper gets under way the town will get busier and even more fun.
