Long day today, up at 4 a.m. and off on my travels, Glasgow, to Risley and home, this time in the wee Smart car, and had a relatively peaceful run both ways.There were plenty of Police cars on the motorway, and as I was nearing Risley I saw a convoy of ten Police vans under escort heading east on the M62 - hopefully not into the fray once again !!!
The riots down south are a disgrace, yobs out for self gratification, and to cause damage/ mayhem just for the fun of it.
It would probably be an insult to put them into the same category as my woolly friends, who, dumb as they may be, are better behaved and a lot less bother.
No point in me saying much about the riots, there are more than enough experts / and non experts passing comment. All I can say is that when I started the "Schoolwatch" anti vandalism social education programme in 1987 there were a lot of sceptics about, and a lot more who could not understand the long term benefits of the programme - until now !!!
