4.a.m. up for a cuppa, and then out the door at 5 a.m. to Glasgow where Mr Dunk filled my head with nonsense and the car with jobs for Runcorn.
Headed south, and I just could not get over the numbers of heavy goods vehicles heading north into Glasgow around 6.30 a.m.
On the motorway, three young women all belted past me (over 85 mph) only to literally slam on the anchors and cut back into the inside lane to get to their exit - just bad driving, and all in smaller cars. Anothert two . later in the day, fags in the mouth - car full of smoke - disgusting.
At Runcorn, Jill has a lovely new posh Reception area, complete with flat screen TV , but no big comfy chairs for the visitors, she was up to date with the blog and concerned about Ann and some of our antics.
Droppedd off what I had and uplifted, as promised one massive big suitcase which was filling up the drugs dept cupboard.
To the canteen, in high spirits where I was winding up Christine (of the new specs), giving her a hard time, so it was appropriate that the training course in session was how to deal with dfifficult customers. Still did not stop[ her murdering yet another bacon roill, and to add insult to injury the prices have been put up - so next time she will be given a Dick Turpin mask.
On the road up, Police were out in force, a very slick operation between J.s 22 /24 North, where they were monitoring the traffic with the vehicle recognition cameras and then swooping down and picking off individuals. It was really well done and for once I was impressed.
Further north, passed the big camper van towing the proverbial second car behind it - its just a bit pretentious - I think.
Anyway, good round trip of 568 miles so I needed a power nap when I got home before I went out again to the RA at Gorebridge at 6.20 p.m. However it was a bit too much so I had too leave early and head home for a rest.
Mrs. B had been working in the house cleaning out bedrooms, again doing too much and once again looking like death warmed up , needing a good rest - BUT she had made lovely stew for dinner.
Tomorrow, first the funeral of Mary Dyer and then down to work at The Sportsmans.

The flying dustcart
Up with the larks this morning to go to the airport for 6.15 a.m. but on the way home followed a dustcart / bucket motor which was being driven by a budding Lewis Hamilton, total disregard for the speed limits, etc, all that was missing was the rubbish falling off the back.
Home and, knowing I have a long day tomorrow, back to bed for a couple of hours then up and at em as they say. Ann was feeling a lot brighter so we headed to Livingston for breakfast, which Wetherspoons managed to get right at the second attempt. Did a bit shopping then went off to the new B & Q at Hermiston Gait, where I now have to take my driving license or passport to prove my age before I can get their Diamond card. Seems that my bus pass is not good enough. A certain person is muttering about decorating, etc, which makes me not too happy.
Getting paranoid about speed cameras, saw a van in a lay by this morning, but it turned out to be an ambulance - just seems that at every turn the motorist is getting thumped. This new part of the car tax thing now where you have to fill in a SORN form if the car is off the road and not taxed, if not that's another £80.
Had a go at this telephone banking today, it used to be simple and straight forward, but gets worse so it might be just as easy to keep the pennies buried in a tin in the garden (like Chick - because all his coins seem to be green and mouldy and they are not Roman or Anglo Saxon)
Grant of Photogenix fame misssed out on last nights trip to 720, but was not well again, so lets hope he improves also.
Graham must now be in the USA , hopefully behaving, but we will have to wait and see !!
Spoke to Robbie and he says big Karen is in hospital, so I will now have to find out more. Which I have just done - that was quick, have spoken to Karen who took ill on Monday night with a suspected blood clot on the lung, linked to a chest complaint - she was kept in for 24 hours, had a numer of jags, blood tests and a CT scan before being sent home - she will live to fight another day.
Mr Karabin has amazed me by reading yeterdys blog and actually responding to it - good one Greg.

Ronnie Mitchell RIP
Well, Mrs. B. did indeed nearly burst a gaskit with yesterdays rush of blood and her walk in the outside world. However, she has now had to have a day of rest to recover.
Attended the funeral of Ronnie Mitchell at loanhead this afternoon, long time friend of the family , who has for several years suffered from altzymers and was latterly hospitalised. He was a lifetime employee at McTaggart Scott's, Loahead, from age 14 till he retired, a gifted artist, sportsman, and real gentleman. Condolances to Chrissie, Yvonne, Audry and family.
Chasing up several outstanding chores, but managed those, and unlike friend TV Lee ( off to Bankok today) Graham ( off to the USA) and Mr. Lowe - off to Barbados next week, we will be staying at home.
Robbie and Caitlin had a go at climbing Arthur's Seat yesterday, the hard way up and easy way down - bit silly !! but that's what upside down people do.
Anyway time to get sorted and off to 720 Dalhousie, tonight.

I should have been out
Stayed in tonight having returned a bit later than usual and could not make it to Newbattle on time for their meeting, but I was tired after my late night on Sat. and had kept myself busy all day, moving rubbish and juggling bottles, etc, around the bar.
Had a few in for a blether but sometimes you could do with a tablet to keep you sane when everyone starts on at once, but it can be fun as well.
Heard that one of last nights brawlers has now got a really sore face. Seems the ladies in the "Stand" were behaving likewise on Friday night with one getting a broken nose. Just think what it will be like in the new Wetherspoon's pub when it opens and they all go there to play.
Musselburgh High Street is total chaos just now due to lots of traffic coming through the town to miss the roadworks on the A1, and for some reason there were a lot more ambulances with sirens whizzing through the town today.
Cookie @ Ian, our latest Aussie import managed to get himself into a fight waiting on a bus at London Road, when heading home from watching the Superbowl last night, but he was fine, coped with it Ok, lost his phone, walked all over Musselburgh and eventually found it in his bed.
Mrs. B. took herself out for a walk today and overdid it, ending up having to sleep for a couple of hours to recover.
Phone has been busy all evening, Edwardo called as he leaves for three months in Argentina in the morning. William the brickie and Sandra called from London, their extension is now progressing as he has had better weather than us.

Monday , back at the Inn
Sunday, well worth forgetting after Scotland's terrible result against against France.
Musselburgh |Races were quieter than normal for a family day and it was reflected here in the pub. Only a few visitors, so it was not as long a day as expected. The Mercat was nice and busy on the lead up to the match and for some time afterwards. Graham and co are now missing but I think they stayed up all night to watch the superbowl.
Wee bit excitement here when two "friends" took themselves off to settle an argument, one came back with more than his pride hurt !! and took it a wee bit badly .
Mrs. B. been bright all weekend, not quite so this morning but she has the day ahead to perk up.
Now needing to get on with some work

Whistling winds
Now Sunday a.m. and it was wild and windy all night which again did not make for a good sleep.
Saturday, Mrs. B . was bright as button for a change so we had another short runout in the morning to the shops, my favourite - (keep Harrords and Harvey Nicols) Matalan and then onto Asda.
By the time I got home I was feeling a bit off, so I had an afternoons nap and missed the football and the Irish rugby match, but was up much brighter and in time to see Wales turn over England for what was a surprise win at Twickenham.
Headed to the pub, where Paddy, Elaine and Michelle C. were the duty team taking over from a hard workerd Michelle R. and Robbie. Place had been steady most of the day and remained so all evening but seemed to die off around 11.30 p.m. instead of the usual influx. But there had been quite a few in who headed up town to spend their "baw bees" this being pay weekend. Amongst those who stayed we had a few good singers so the karoke was busy.
Perhaps even more are taking part in the regular "lock in" along the street !!.
Some folks waiting on taxi's at 1.45 a.m. said they had been told there was a 45 minute wait so where they all were I have no idea, usually you fall over them.
Place was empty on time so we were all able to get home at a reasonable time.
Now about to load up with the Sunday sandwiches (made today by Mrs. B.), head for Costco en route and get down to The Sportsmans where we have fooball, racing at Musselburgh, and rugby ( Scotland - France) to keep us amused.

I wondered where but now I ****
Well, last night threatened snow never materialised untill 8 p.m. tonight and there is a good covering with more falling.
It was wild and with the odd blustery snow flurry this morning so having walked to the shops I was blown about a bit and a trifle out of breath.
Later, by car to see Grant (Photogenix) at Bonniyrigg to find that he had been ill for a couple of days having passed out once again due to his strange ailment, of which he one of only a tiny handful in the UK to suffer same.
On to Musselburgh via Booker, but made the mistake of phoning the Mercat first to discover that an expected delivery had not arrived so I had to get their stuff as well, so it was a quick, flying visit to the Sportsmans, where Robbie had Chris and some of the boys in to "wet the bairns heid" , Chris was proud as punch and from what I gather was treated well by the guys who got him "blootered" as tradition ordains.
Swift run to the Mercat to drop off all their supplies, essential before a hopefully hectic weekend, with lots of rugby and the Superbowl, whilst Musselburgh have both horse racing, and Hibs v Rangers on Sunday.
To tonights papers, I see our Assidstant Chief Constable is in the running for a £10,000 prize as one of the most influencial gays in the area - that's nice!! Bloody hell when I joined if you looked the wrong way you were nailed to the wall.
Only consolation is that Midlothian and east Lothian have not joined in the local speed camera tax gathering scam - they say that they have few sites which meet the alleged criteria to save lives or whatever. From where many cameras are sited it just needs to be a long straight piece of road where you get the first chance to pass slow moving vehicles for miles !! And obviously we do not have many of those, the constant ongoing roadworks see to that.
I hear that Stuart Walker, alleged thief and continual driver of cars without a licence was caught again on Wednesday and has had yet another car taken off him. Looks like he will never learn and will not be happy till he kills someone - so anytime he is seen pass on the info to Crimestoppers.
Quiet day for Ann as she could not get out today.
See what happens tomorrow as I am working evening at pub and long day on Sunday.
