Sun brings out the best, and worst ,

Sitting here, small malt whiskey in hand, watching the France v Mexico world cup football match, which should, at half time be in the bag for Mexico, but they are still level pegging. BUT - how many of these freeloading so called football experts do we need over there, paid for by the licence holders, to go tell us what we can see with our own eyes ?
Earlier on I was listening to two numpties on Radio Five live who were totally derogatory about Scottish football, it is OK for us to be insulting but not a "foreign" commentator.

Anyway, complaint from RGB and Go Jo who are off on holiday and had noted that I was not blogging as regularly as normal - but as I have said, no point in writing just for the sake of it and especially when not in the mood. RGB manged to remember to post me this birthday card after he left, and will even manage to miss Father's Day once again !! I know he will make up for it when he gets back.
Wee story in last nights Edinburgh Evening News about how the Mercat Bar is balancing out its carbon footprint by planting trees on a site in Perthshire - good one RGB.

Today, up with the little birdies at 4 a,m, and off to Glasgow then Runcorn. Weather was lovely all day for a change, in fact Penicuik was warmer than London, and the motorway was surprisingly quiet all the way south, so much so that I may well have had my picture taken again by a nice man in a yellow van on a motorway bridge !! and that was in the old Escort which is the slowest of the cars.
Folks were naturally subdued at Runcorn as twenty two of the staff had been served with redundancy notices as the company looks as though it is about to close one of their three sites and work from the other two.

Christine, of Dick Turpin fame, was back from her cruise on the Ocean Village and said it was wonderful as a first cruise, Venice was nice, but had been flooded the week before !! a good experience. More than can be said for the poor souls in the South of France who lost their lives in the flash floods yesterday, six months of rain in three hours - worse weather for 110 years, sounds a bit like the flash floods last week in the USA.

No need to go back to Glasgow so I had a shorter run home via Moffat, Broughton on the A701, I see that the "garden" in Broughton is about to come into bloom - it has been magnificent for the past god knows how many years, just beside the main road at the junction in the village.

Arrived home same time as Mrs. B., far too nice to go to bed so I got myself comfy in the garden where I dozed off , to be disturbed by yet more falling ash as the inconsiderate "tree surgeons!!!!" working at Cornbank Farmhouse, had yet another bonfire to get rid of the trees they were chopping down - BUT someone called the Fire Brigade who arrived and the fire seemed to be quashed, although there was more smoke later. All the neighbours are up in arms, three days of nice weather and our gardens and cars are white, and putting washing on the line is out the question. "How to make friends and influence people - NOT"
Mexico have taken the lead, great goal, good team, even Mrs B has been enthusiastic and involved. Mexico wins, France were outplayed and showed no spirit, I would think that the French pulic will be wanting the guillotine out for the Manager !!
