Rugby Internationals start now - the walk of shame, plus.

Sunday night still recovering from yesterday's labours at The Mercat Bar where we were hammered all day with the rugby crowds, queues of folks just trying to get a drink before "the big match" at Murrayfield, and wanting to watch the other two internationals taking place . What a buzz about the town, lots of good humour and everyone hoping that Scotland might be able to do something against the mighty All Blacks - fat chance, what a cuffing - totally outplayed - so back to the drawing board before next weekend. Big panic in the morning when the Hog Roast did not appear so the butcher brought in some succulent brisket, all hands on deck "spud bashing" and the end result - delicious stovies to warm the cockles of the punters hearts.

Bit of an upset for a group of six who arrived just before the big rush at 7.30 p.m. as the supporters came back - we had six folks who arrived thinking they had a table booked ( tables were all gone) and we had blocked all bookings as usual for the rugby days - however, they were not disappointed, they had a dink with , then went next door where we had arranged a table in to Jani's for an Italian meal - BUT - they will have their dinner with us later - BUT not on a rugby day.

Did not get home in time to see the Strictly Dancing show, but watched the X-Factor, so riveting that we both fell asleep before the end !! ( apart from Mary - Aiden looks like a Jedward clone) says it all - certainly a few of Sir Elton John's tunes well murdered - need to see what farse takes place tonight during the results. Wagner was an insult to the profession - and if Elton was dead he would be turning in his grave - but as he is not he might consider suing the show.

Back to Strictly, I have just heard the wonderful Anni Lennox singing live, followed by the very good "Soldiers" and all I can say to Cheryl Cole and Alicia Dickson - take heed and do not think that you will ever be singers in your lifetime.

Sunday and the Mercat Bar was busy again, some lovely people in, Danish Ministers over for a conference at St Mary's Cathedral), Dutch ( a ladies rugby team and friends), Chinese, New Zealand etc, ( one couple even drink in Eddie Murphy's pub at the Three Corners, Windsor where I had a pint a few weeks ago on our last trip to Eagham) however I had an Irish family who had more chips on their shoulder than were in their plates - so they have the distinct privilege of being the first customers to complain about me. Just unfortunate that there were another fifteen customers in the restaurant who were complaining about them !!!!.

Back to the x-Factor, West Life sang well, good song, - JLS tried hard with the new Children in Need Song, and the reformed Take That (with Robbie Williams) - brilliant, different class, (and did not mime / lip sync - pay attention Cheryl). A tour well worth seeing, but tickets are already sold out.
What can I say - tonight's results, Matt, Rebecca, Cher, One Direction - ( FARCICAL Wagner) , Mary , Paige and Katie all staying, while Aiden heads for home - totally melodramatic, but in this case I was happy enough to see Aiden going, too intense for me - BUT again, time for Wagner to take a hike. (Unlikely so),

Looks Like there is a scheme afoot to discredit the show by keeping Wagner in the show - just what was the betoxed Louis Walsh thinking about when he gave the Wagner the wild card, or was he just being a shrewd businessman and knew that the group who had a go at Simon Cowell last year would get in in the act and rubbish the show once again.

Recently, someone said I should be a journalist and asked where I got my inspiration - wrong, I just write what I think and toil at times to find a few new adjectives - but both my parents were excellent writers / communicators. My mother could turn her hand at any piece of writing, stories, letters, and scripts for Scout shows ; father was a prolific letter writer who might well have really taken to a blog - BUT when he away from home we had a constant stream of letters from the other side of the world, generally on alternate days - descriptive, entertaining and informative.

My recent inspirational event ( if you want to call it that!!!!!) was (a Colonoscopy) when lying on a hospital examination table in Livingston, while the Dr. did an impression of the Dyno Rod man with a 1.5m length of fibre optic cable ( bit more elaborate with lights , snips, video camera and wind gun, etc). How often do you find yourself in a situation where you wish you were a thousand miles away !! anyway, I eventually came to terms with what was going on, firstly opened one eye an then the other and began to take an interest in what was happening on the video screen in front of me - turned out to be very interesting and the Dr. began to explain the procedure to me - flashes, zapps of electric as wee polyps got the chop, just unfortunate that he found something he was not happy about and too big to zap or crop!! so now only time will tell.
At least it is not all in my napper as one Dr. dared to suggest a few weeks ago, maybe that will come later and someone will connect a mains lead to both my ears and turn on the power.

So, new inspiration, the weather - gosh, it is turning chilly again, snow on the hills, central heating turned up - this global warming has a lot to answer for - yawn, yawn, or will the latest "I'm A Celebrity, Get me Out of here" restore my faith in some of these so called celebrities who either think they are someone and need a boost to their ego or are skint and their bank managers have told them to top up their assets.
