Train from Haymarket to Perth, via Kirkcauldy

Tuesday, and we were to head off to Perth for the annual Presidents Lunch of the S L T A ( Scottish Licensed Trade Association), so we decided to take the train for a change. All aboard at Haymarket Station and onto the Inverness train, quick trip !!! or so I thought.

Off we set and reached the famous Forth railway Bridge at South Queensferry, over the bridge with a nice view of the more modern Forth Road Bridge, over North Queensferry, home of the Deep Sea World aquarium.

Then things went a bit wrong, off the rails , no, train turned right and headed along the shore of the River Forth, through Dalgetty Bay, Anstruther and then Kirkcaldy. Turns out we were on the Central Fife loop to Perth, designed to get a lot more passengers commuting by train - up and through the hills, Markinch and Lady Bank before we got to Perth - a very cold morning still ice in the fields and misty patches in the wee valleys.
Took about ninety minutes to get there, so the Inverness folks had a long haul for the rest of the journey.
