Tramworks and building - when will it stop ?

Now seated in the Servisair Lounge at Edinburgh airport waiting for my Air France flight to London city Airport. Thought that i was better off getting the Airport Express Coach No 100, out earlier to miss all the chaos around Murrayfield on the build up to the International.
I was really surprised when I came out the search area to see that the new refurbished areas of the airport are now open , very nice and modern looking. Even met friends from Penicuik in the lounge who were off to Vigo in Spain to do a job in the shipyard over there. They had even been in the Mercat bar last night for a drink when it was busy and buzzing.

So, before I left this morning I had to "pop down the street"for a couple of messages for Mrs. B. and in doing so saw that the original Jackson Street School was nearly demolished. There has been a lot of controversy about that but the Council sold it and the grounds off so that developers could build more flats. But as one comes down , round the corner in the car park at Sommerfields the new Dental Centre is well under construction ,, not a McDonalds as the local rumour mongers would have us believe.

Headed into town with Go Jo as RGB was having a session with the dreaded Cruella to fix his back which "popped" last night.
What a bloody mess West Maitland Street is in with the tramworks, barriers everywhere, holes in the road as this latest company did up everything that Carillion did last years, but this time, not content with just causing an obstruction on one side of the street , both sides are fenced in.
there is certainly no consideration whatsoever being given to the local businesses - looks like the signs will be shut up and shut up (for ever) !!!

Hundreds of French visitors here for the rugby international, wandering about looking for a beer or two, however, despite the fact we have a new Licensing Act which came into force last September, our City Fathers and the Police are happy to continue with the archaic old laws - preventing the sale of drink except from cheap corner stores and the local dive of a pool hall

Hopefully things will pick up later in the day, in the meantime I am off looking for streets paved with gold and perchance to have a cuppa with Liz at the Palce if she is not watching theEastenders omnibus !!

Spoke with the original upside down boy ( Robbie) this morning doing some overtime on a Sunday night down under - he has counselled his younger brother Scott, regarding his flaunting incident at the Burn's night dinner - good to hear from him again.
