But it has been a long day - disturbed by the phone very early, poor sleep, and then horror of horrors, the Dentist, and having had toothache for the past three weeks , I now have the anticipation of two booked treatments.
Off on the road, the M 8 first, and instead of my usual early morning peaceful run, the road was very busy, some snow over Harthill, but the driver of the lorry with "Cool - Calm and Collected" was causing other drivers to be anything but that !!!.
Into Glasgow and lots of paperwork to check out, so it was ages before I hit the M74, where I met driver number two, who was playing leap frog with another lorry on the two lane section so he managed to build up a nice queue behind him. Once clear, onwards at the toot BUT , the traffic ground to a halt in the valley as we approached Moffat - a lorry was involved and there were miles of traffic - not a word on the Radio, but I could see quite a bit of traffic on the old A74 who had got wind of the hold up and diverted.
When we eventually moved, next hazard was sleet, snow and high winds over the Summit of Shap - but once over that the weather cleared and the roads were dry all the way to Risley. Once again, a longish turnaround before heading home - this time no Glasgow, but I did contemplate going through Moffat and up the A701, but the slip road off the M74 at Moffat was just that - a very slippery (icy) slip road, so common sense prevailed and it was back onto the M74 which had been gritted and home along the A702, also gritted, and quiet - no problems.
Must not forget that this was Go Jo's birthday - all the best (21 again) .
