Gunners v Warriors and even more snow in the City

11 p.m. Saturday night just hme off the bus , and it is a nightmare outside, hellish - I have not seen Edinburgh and the environs so bad for many years. It has snowed all day throughout the area and in the City the roads were sheet ice, no grit or salt, and no grit wagons on the roads. City Council need taking to task - buses were actually sliding down Frederick and Hanover Street, unable to stop as they entered Princes Street.

The grit wagons are sitting in their yard as the Council claim that the snow is the wrong type to salt - !!!!!!!!!! perhaps they have wastd so much money on the tram works that they cannot afford either the salt or the wages for the drivers.

Rewind a few hours I had taken the bus into town, walked along to the Mercat and met up with a group of friends who were going to Murrayfield to the rugby, Edinburgh Gunners v Glasgow Warriors.

Police were out stopping cars between Shandwick Place and manor Place who were ignoring the no cars signs - good excuse for the breathalyser tests.

Pub was busy, and at 2.30 p.m. lots of us headed out to walk along to Murrayfield, we even had friends upfrom Moffat for the game,

Sadly the game was a bit disappointing for the Edinburgh fans as the Gunners lost 22 - 19, couple of the Warriors were sent to the sin bin, but it was a game of penalties and kicking.
Photos are of the smoke clearing after the fireworks display, and Chris Paterson about to kick one of his penalties in the game.

Back to the Bar , via the Roseburn bar, where we had stovies and soup waiting to warm us up - excellent stovies, so 2nd helpings were the order of the day.

It was a good day, apart from the fact that it would not stop snowing, so homewards it was with a good walk the length of Prices Street, and also from the bus up to the house in penicuik - where the road conditions were even worse.
Holding my breath as I am up early to get back into the City to open for breakfast.
