Wednesday 6th - guesss what, snow again

0830 hrs Wednesday and I am sitting looking out into one of the intermittent snow squalls we are having. The cars were cleared late on so I can see that there has been yet another 1 inch or so of snow overnight but the roads are bad enough to have stopped the Lothian buses coming up our way. Mrs B left some time ago to join the others who were walking down to the main street, John St., where hopefully the buses will be running. For once sense, rather than fashion prevailed and it was on with the hiking boots warm hat and coat, etc. and off she went not quite like Nanook of the North (that's me - Mr. no style or class). BUT from what I am hearing on the news it is mild here compared to other parts of the UK. Local radio just telling us that we are cut off from the south with the A7 closed at Gorebridge; A 701 and A703 shut at Leadburn ; A 702 shut from West Linton - happy days. No trains running south either.
Real radio have just broadcast some texts from drivers who have just had a near miss with an ar----le in a white van on the A1 at Dunbar where there is 4 in snow and he overtook and then spun out of control.

Again , the numbers of cars I can see passing the house with no attempt to clear the snow off them amazes me - am I getting paranoid again? Need to go lie in a darkened room perhaps.

Got a bit distracted last night and missed out on some of my planned rants !!!

Local private firms who cannot get salt supplies for their own contracts have been waiting for the local council to fill up the street side salt bins and then stealing the contents, sometimes within minutes of the bins being filled!!!! cheeky, thieving so and so's.

Big panic on now as our gas supplies are running low - our "greens" will be happy sitting all wrapped up while we have to buy in expensive energy from Europe where they have adequate nuclear power plants, etc.

Trams - there is no way that our proposed new trams would be able to operate in these conditions - pig in the poke - just like the Eurostar trains who failed at the first dusting of snow.

Looks like it will be shovelling again for my daily exercise - must remember my five fruits also!!
