1.30 p.m. update from a busless community

Reporting in from not so sunny Penicuik, where my current depth in the garden is 11 inches. However, more to the point the "people" who dumped their cars on the min road have appeared and are attempting to move them.
It is a bit of a pantomime, as they had done some digging, throwing the snow onto the road and the snow plough has just passed and swept the snow back into the sides blocking the cars in again !! A bit of occupational therapy !!

We heard that the buses stopped running again this morning, but i would suspect that they are operating on the main road now.

As you can see, there is no way we will get the cars out our back street today and possibly not even tomorrow - the snow is megga wet and heavy and is snapping branches on trees, etc.

Further to the serious accident this morning I hear on the news that one of the pupils died as a result of the crash - our thoughts are with the parents and relatives.

I believe that the main London - Edinburgh rail line is blocked by a landslide between Berwick upon Tweed and Dunbar, so we are back to buses again - I wonder why we did away with the horse and carriage !!
