Made it into and out of the airport no real problem - swapped cars and picked up a wee Fiesta and headed back onto the bypass. By the time I got back to Penicuik, there was another inch of snow lying on top of the 5.5 inches earlier and conditions are really hellish. Fortunately nothing is coming in from either Wedst Linton or Peebles, and folk seem to be taking heed and staying at home so what traffic there is on the main A701 is moving, but slowly.
No idea where this woman was heading she just decided to abandon her car across the road from us , but got stuck in the process and halted the traffic. She parked up, took her shovel and headed home I presume. So now there is no way that the bus service will resume until the snowploughs clear this mess and these cars are moved.
Not sure what is happening along the A702 but it is apparently closed at West Linton with no diversions and Mrs. B. says there is some kind of rescue underway relating to a bus in a river near Biggar !!! will need to wait and see. UPDATE - bus with 37 pupils and 6 teachers from the lanark area skidded off the road near Wiston , Lanarkshire and ended up in a river, there are quite a few seriously injured and a lot of walking wounded - ambulances, rescue teams and helicopter are on the scene at the moment. No doubt it will get worse before it gets better - and I will not be putting in any bedding plants this weekend.
