Wednesday 24th.
Sun has been shining all day, 30 C , no breeze, and it has been warmer than expected, so much so that we have had to get under the brollies. Must say, that compared to many hotels we have stayed in they have literally hundreds of brollies, both fixed and portable, and many trees, etc where you can seek cover / shade. I can think back to hotels in Majorca where I burnt to a frazzle, and was using bushes and walls for cover. Took a few more shots of the garden today, so neat, and very well maintained, in fact tonight as we came up from the beach we both commented on the familiar smell of freshly mown lawns, something I will not have to bother about at home for a couple of months yet.
The aqua gym and some of the other games attracted good participation today which was good - so hopefully there will be a big turn out at the amphitheatre tonight for the show.
Met the Reps from Thompson’s and Air tours who have been great, they are part of the “family” here, so pleasant, just a pity that Kerry is off to Turkey soon.
Tonight we are back to the main restaurant, but will wait till later when “Borris” and his friends / family have had their fill and things quieten down. We did have the option of another visit to the Italian from Samy which was very nice, but we are going for something less formal on our last night.
Popped in and had a look at some of the “copy” watches on sale here, which is no different from any other hotel or market in Egypt, the variety is amazing and the quality varies from poor to near perfect, with prices ranging from £25 to £150 depending on what you are looking for. One owner was saying that he an English customer who comes back every six months and buys a different watch each time. There are a number of tourist style shops in the hotel, the only thing that annoys me is the fact that we have to haggle over everything, HOWEVER, that is just a major factor of life here, you just have to role with it and haggle like hell.
Home tomorrow, back to northern climes, but if I could I would be back here next week. – enough said.
Hope Sparky Mark, Grant, Andy and co are all geared up for the wine dinner on Saturday, might even have Suzy from here, who will home to join us.
