We walked from our hotel and spotted one of the yellow anphibian vehilces sailing along through the dock, but decided to jump onto the open topped tour bus instead. This was a good choice as we were taken right round the town , plenty to see and a great commentary. This city has everything, museums; art galleries; biggest Anglican Cathedral in the World, ultra modern Roman Catholic Cathedral; massive pedestrian precincts; brand new ( May 2008) shopping malls; the list goes on , and of course they have The Beatles ; The Cavern Club; and introduced an amazing range of music to the world.
We eventually did one lap and a bit on the bus and then jumped off to find a nice sea\t in the sun and have a drink and a snack, before heading off to the Cavern Club. The present Cavern Club, is an identical replica of the original club , but was resconstruced a few yards down the street from the original to make room for new developments. Mid afternoon and the place was busy , 60's music playing and everyone having a bit of a sing song - and then a local singer took the stage and did some tribute stuff.
We headed round the corner and took a look into the "Hard Days Night Hotel" which is beautiful, a real shrine to the Beateles and many other famous people - the toilets were luxurious, and the downstairs function suite was really plush with great photos of the Beatles and their albums on the walls.
The two doormen , John and Kalvin were real characters who seemed to know everyone.
Mrs. B. wants me to take her there next visit !!!!!
So off we went to the shops - to be continued !!
