Headed for Bonnyrigg but went to collect Sparky en route - guess what, he was still in his bed (at 1.20 p.m.) but haveing been wakened he made it to the car in quick time - although in a bit of a state, having been out on the skite most of the night, apparantly led astray by others !!
Not the greatest of trun outs for the RA meeting but the business was conducted properly.
Heading home we stopped at Thornton Farm, Rosewell where "Riding for the Disabled Association" have a local base, to see what help they might benefit from. Met a couple of the young volunteers who were busy feeding the ponies.
Being in the adventurous mood we took off on a dirt track up to Shewington Farm to try and get a look at the latest open cast mine being operated in the area by Scottish Coal - a rather bumpy ride, and not realy for a family saloon car. BUT the hole in the ground was big. This whople area used have lots of small drift mines going into the cvarious seams, but now they just rip off the top coverings to expose the shallow seams.
Rangers FC made very hard work of beating St. Johnston in the Scottish Cup semi final - just a shame someone had to lose because Rangers were not that good today.
Have not heard much from the Sportsmans Bar, although we met one of the guys last nigth at The Standing Order heading home from Ayr Races, and I had a quick call from Sami Caine this afternoon.
Off to do some odd jobs in The Mercat now - only time to get peace is when it is shut.
