The presses were rolling , I was in the middle of the blog when Claire phoned to say that there was a strong smell of gas in the kitchen and basement - and having checked to make sure that Jamie was not in the loo or that there were no bodies lying about has had to call the gas Board who have told them to vacate the building.
It will be intersting to see who goes in with the lighted match to find the leak !! Hopefully not Sparky Mark as that would be a waste of all his training for the charity walk of Kiliminjaro in February. You might think I joke, but Mark does know of gas engineers who have used naked flames in the presence of gas leaks!!
So while we wait for news, and this not being a good day to have the place closed, Prestonpans last night was very busy , with a deputation from Tranent - good degree working , but as it did not finish till 9.40 p.m. I did not stay for a meal.
However, on the way home I passed the Sportsman's bar and saw signs of life so popped in to find that all the staff were in for a meeting with Kirsten - nice to see the whole team again , so we had a wee blether, caught up on the scandal. Seems that Uncle Chick is in hospital having been stabbed in Tranent last week - he has made the front page of the East Lothian Courier - fame , or infamy at last - but no one knows how he is doing. Heard that Chris Stowe is once again unemployed - similar problems as before - with relation to the control of goods in and goods out.
So, with a few chores to do and a run to Cash and Carry I had better get a move on .
