I cannot say that I am bright as a button , but I am as fit as I will ever be at this time of day - back is sore though.
Had a message from Jeremy Wattles in USA to say he will be over to Edinburgh for at holiday at the end of January - he might have finished the book he kept promising to write while he was working with us at both The Sportsman's and The Mercat.
Little Princess ( Kerrin) is a bit older this satureday , she and the girls are going ice skating tonight and coming to see us at The Mercat for dinner, hopefully their tiny bots will not be too damp with falling down.
I used to be a keen ice hocky fan and went to all the home games at Murryfield, great night, plenty of fighting on the ice between edinburgh and the Fife Flyers when they met. Took a young Kenyan lad, David , one day - he did not know what ice hocky was and had never seen ice - he sat there terrified, wrapped up in balaclava, scarf, etc, with only his white teeth shining in the dark !! Same visit he went up to seee Penicuik House after a snow storm , took loads of photos and later discovered that his camera was not working - by which time the snow had melted.
Back to skating , when I worked in Durham we used to go alternate between the skating and the dancing on a saturday night - timing it so were at the opposite venue to the fighting, those were the days of the bovver boys with their big boots on.
And the cinema in Durham had gas lights a and double chummy seats !! Those were the days.
On a sadder note - another old Mason / companion Alexander Chambers passed away in his sleep yesterday - RIP.
