Nice and steady - me not the rain.

Its been as long day, but not as long as expected. made it through to Glasgow for 5.45 a.m., quick chat to Mr. Bob, and then southwards at a steady pace. Weather was fine as far as the Preston area where the rain started with avengance, just after we had passed a fairly bad accident on the southbound lane on M6 , the car had spun round and was against the central barrier facing me. I was lucky to get through as the motorway was closed a short time later. Rain was heavy for about thirty miles, then cleared before I reached Runcorn. #
Jill knew I was coming so I had a cherry welcome and heard that she was off to Las Vegas on Saturday for a golfing holiday, plus a very small flutter at the casinos.
The terrible two were on duty in the canteen so I had my bacon roll kept safe and sound - to much on as I headed home.
I was listening to Smooth FM on the radio, its a good programme and there is a fairly wide coverage as I headed north, losing it around the Morcombe turn off.
BBC radio 2, was good, heard the new Leon Jackson record which is good and selling well according to real radio. On R.2 they had a good programme called "70 Not Out" and had a lady aged 104 years on this afternoon - she was talking about London being bombed during the 1st World war by the Zepplins, and the wardens cycling around telling folks to take cover.
Looks like Steve Fosset's wrecked plane has been found 10,000 ft up in the Sierra Navada mountains - he certainly did live life to its full.

Good advert on the Motorway bridges of an ambulance driver, on the back of his jacket it says "Patience means less patients" very good and true.

Decided for a change to come off the motorway early so I left at Lockerbie and headed north on the old main road as far as Moffat, on the way passing a new factory which had intrigued me, turns out it makes forestry products, and is not a waste plant as I had thought. ( Jennifer McKay take note).
Into Moffat as school was on luch break, kids running everywhere, then up on the A701 over the Devil's Beeftub, through Broughton Village, passing The John Buchan Visitor centre and the Broughton Brewery. The well known visitor garden has been replanted again all ready to bloom again next year.
Home and to bed for few hours sleep to recover, but with the best of intentions there was no way I was fit enough to make either the SLTA Ball in Glasgow , or the Installation at Preston Tower - so I just set about packing my case for Saturday.

Graham called to say that he has a photo on his phone of six workmen painting a line on the road - catching , aint it, watching lazy buggers ripping off the ratepayer!!!
I remember that ages ago one of the Sunday national papers had a column where folks wrote in about the waste of tax payers money.

Message from Francoise to say that she was going to meet Graham and Jo when they arrive for the Twinning trip to L'Isle on 17th . Had we not being going to Dominica we would have gone there.

No recent news from our upside down twosome - Rob and Caitlin - so no news is good news.
