Murray v Gasteau Wimbleton

Well,

what can I say , I have sat spellbound watching this game for the past three hours or so. Mrs. B. from the start said that Andy Murray would win and was calling the commentators all sorts of names for writing him off.

Sparky Mark and I were at times more impressed with her passion and zeal as she kept getting on at us for not giving as much positive vibes as she was. BUT he won - which means that instead of getting on with my work on Thursday I will once agin have my bum on a chair - no doubt with glass in hand.

Otherwise, today not a lot to report, stripped out the conservatory, the "blind man " came, and he was not really blind - just here to fit them, but, he was Michael Trotter, brother of one of my ex scouts, Callum Trotter, who now lives and works in Alabama, USA , where he is in landscaping and his wife is a specialist nurse. His mum . Rose , is currently fighting cancer -and co- incientillaly I met her later in the afternoon on my trip to TESCO.

I have just had a long conversation with Malcolm Graham , whose wife Norma has just been appointed Chief Constable of Fife Constabulary, the first female Chief Constable in Scotland. Many years ago when i was Crimwe Intelligence officer at Dalkeith I had Norma and her friend Sharon, now Insp. Sharon Simpson working with me in the office - both known by me as scraggy and scruffy - but tremendously enthusiastic officers who have shown just how far female officers can progress in the Police Force. AND the one thing ion their favour is that , as I have said previously " they are both Jock Thompson's bairns", no airs and graces, have worked from the grass roots, and treat everyone as their equal - an attitutude which unfortunately many others fail to adopt!!!
